A garden is a wonderful metaphor for life. Come visit my garden where you may find occasional bugs, droughts, and floods, but there is also planting, nourishing, nurturing, and growth. I hope you find, as I have, some of the most beautiful creations blooming here.

Hanakapi'ai Falls

This was our first outing.  It is described on some websites as a difficult 8 mile round trip hike.  I would agree, mostly because I'm out of shape.  I was surprised at how good I felt hiking it though (maybe it is because the last big hiking I did was when I was in early pregnancy with a 35lb pack on my back).  We crossed some streams, climbed over boulders and tangled roots, hiked up and down and up again.  It was awesome!
This picture was taken on the path about 1,200 feet above the water.
Ah, the gorgeous Na Pali Coast!
The jungle.
This waterfall fell 100ft into the valley.
Of course JDawg is in first!  He said it wasn't as cold as the lake at Zion's Camp.  What a liar!
Here is proof that I got all the way in, then relatively quickly got out.
The bamboo forest was huge!  Apparently from tip to tip, this size bamboo is stronger than steel! Wouldn't it make a great housing resource?  I'm plotting my Hawaiian commune.
This is the only crab spider I saw.  Isn't it awesome?
This hike was another favorite activity of mine from our trip.  I loved being a part of the experience, rather than seeing it from a distance.  Almost needless to say, I was sore for awhile afterward!
